Virulent Words (likely to be a part one…)

I’m really frustrated.

Honestly, I think everyone is. It doesn’t matter if you are an insider or an outsider, there’s always several brushes ready to paint over you with the expectations of the holders. In this case, the American political scene is so ready to excoriate anything new that comes to light. You could argue this about the Tea Party, but you could equally argue that they are just the current hot iteration.

But what I see isn’t just dismissal or even counterpoints to positions. It’s the “OMG Racism! Poor people on streets! Greedy rich people! Stupid rednecks!” mentality because the group is different. Maybe I’m being naive, and it’s been there throughout American history, but it’s just raucous noise now. A lot of it, I suppose, is the media’s echo chambers in full action. It’s deafening sounds with little meaning but to provoke emotional response, and it must be working because why would they keep doing it??!

All I know is that the current crop of candidates for the most part are totally uninteresting people, and the most interesting ones are the ones with zero chance. Pretty much means I’ll be “wasting” my vote again this year (but really, would I ever not do this?)

We are a society of whiners, and we shirk responsibility whenever possible. Is it any wonder then why it is the government continues to act like a power hungry babysitter?
